A cracking cheat

My personal cheat; I cook a meal at home freeze it and then it takes about two to three days to defrost with an extra day stored in a preserving temperature (7 deg C or below). Normally something such as a fancy casserole. Don't forget to make it and place in a transportable container.

One of my favourites is a venison casserole with black pudding and whisky. I then put a mash potato topping on it.

To reheat after it has defrosted I carefully place in a wok (my favourite cooking pan) Lid on and leave close to the side of the fire to heat through. Just typing this is making my mouth water. ;)

Sounds yummy, but the water weight is something I would try to avoid.

Anyway to make it at home, dehydrate then reconstitute in the bush?

Why dehydrate when you have a 16' canoe? I also eat off the land and carry vegetables. My days of carrying a rucksack passed many years ago.
